Capella

$8,000.00

( 26” H x 13” W x 13” L )

Most of my StarSentient™ glass sculptures hang from the ceiling, but Capella was the first to also sit on a tabletop. I have modeled this into a frozen moment in glass that forms a stable entity made up of five elements bonded together with a super strength optical epoxy. It’s naming process followed after the sculpture was fully completed and made a clear impression of what it was to be called from a list of star names. The star, Capella, is the brightest yellow type star, so it is very visible in the winter sky. Capella is the third-brightest star of the northern celestial hemisphere after Arcturus and Vega. It’s appearance is distinctly golden. The name means “little goat” in Latin, and lives in the constellation Aurigae, which delineates the goat that nursed the infant god Zeus in classical Greek mythology. In actuality, it is a quadruple star composed of two pairs, each giving off light that is intensified from our viewpoint by the effect of the compounded luminosity of the stacked pairs of suns, each separated by vast distances of space. The primary star sits at approximately 42.9 light years from Earth making it “relatively” close.
