This StarSentient sculpture is named after the star, Sadalbari, a red-orange giant with a luminosity brightness figure of 59.4 (59 times that of our Sun at 1.0 luminosity). It lies within the huge Pegasus constellation and appears so bright in part because it’s light combines with a star much deeper in space “behind” it of a similar type that is very close to it. Sadalbari is about 2.5 times bigger than our star and is a “very close” 113 light years distant. The name comes from medieval Persian meaning, “The lucky star of the splendid one.” Other mythic or cultural references are not known. This is just the second sculpture that I’ve made to sit on a pedestal or tabletop.
