Deneb

(16.75"L x 7.5"W x 13”H)

This creation is called DENEB. This StarSentient®, one-of-a-kind, glass sculpture is named after a supergiant star in the constellation of Cygnus. It is one of the brightest stars in the northern hemisphere. The name comes from the Arabic word for tail, “dhanab.” It is one of my most iconic pieces as it contains clear representation of a theme in my work, the conception of the connection between oceanic, cnidaria, a phylum of jellyfish, and extra-terrestrial, alive plasmas.
In the moments Deneb was designed, I imagined it as in a momentary pause before it moves rapidly away. The sandblasted and etched top and main elements contrast to the lower undulating tendrils further creating a sense of potential motion.
